Over 60% of web traffic now comes from mobile devices. Yet most small business websites still treat mobile as an afterthought.
Here’s the reality: if your website doesn’t work perfectly on phones, you’re losing customers. Period.
These are the most common mobile mistakes we see:
- Tiny, unclickable links
Human fingers need targets at least 44×44 pixels. Anything smaller is frustrating.
- Horizontal scrolling
Nothing screams “amateur” like having to scroll sideways on mobile.
- Slow load times
Mobile users are often on slower connections. If your site takes 5+ seconds to load, 70% of visitors leave.
- Font size too small
Squinting isn’t an enjoyable user experience. Text should be at least 16px.
- Intrusive popups
They’re annoying on desktop. They’re deal-breakers on mobile.
The solution isn’t complicated:
Test your website on real phones (not just your desktop browser resized to look like a phone).
Better yet, look at your analytics. What percentage of your traffic is mobile? How does their behavior differ from desktop users? Which pages have high bounce rates on mobile?
Remember: mobile isn’t a separate channel. For many of your customers, it’s their only experience with your business online. Make it count.
